Heading into his 11th year at Concordia, head coach Rob Vance is very excited. "We wanted to address several issues this past year, and I think we have improved those areas. We are deeper and older on the mound than we have been in several years, we are more athletic, and we have good team speed."

Vance was an assistant coach for two years at Concordia before taking the interim job in 1999. Prior to Concordia, he taught physical education and health at Estacada High School for nine years. While at Estacada, Coach Vance was the head baseball coach for six years and the head football coach for four years. In 1996, Vance was named Tri-Valley Coach of the Year for baseball. While at Estacada, Vance also coached junior varsity boy's basketball and freshman girl's basketball.

Vance is a 1987 graduate of Pacific University with a bachelor's degree in physical education and minors in health and coaching. While at Pacific, he played football and baseball. In baseball, Vance was a two-time all-conference infielder. After completing his playing career at Pacific, he was an assistant coach from 1987 through 1990. In 1994, Vance completed his master's degree in exercise and sports science at Portland State University. In addition to teaching in the department, Coach Vance is the chair of the Health and Physical Education department at Concordia and resides in Portland with his wife of eighteen years, Diane.
