Ronn Grove enters his second year as head golf coach for Concordia University after a successful inaugural season that culminated in men's and women's Cascade Collegiate Conference team championship in 2007-08. For his efforts, Grove was named the CCC Coach of the Year for both squads.
Prior to Concordia, Grove has been in the forefront of the Oregon golf scene since 1990 after serving as a head professional at King City Golf Course and Green Meadows Golf Club.
Founded in 1996, he has also worked with the Ronn Grove Golf School in Vancouver, Wash., where he coordinates instruction to all levels of golfers. Grove also established the Southwest Washington Junior Golf Association, designed to develop young golfers in the region.
As a player, Grove has been selected the Oregon PGA Senior Player of the Year on seven occasions, including a five-year run from 1994 to 1998. He also participated in seven Pacific Northwest PGA Senior Hudson Cup Teams, captaining the squad in 2005. He has also participated in seven Sr. Hagen Cup matches, which pits the top 10 Oregon senior professional against the top 10 from Washington, in a Ryder Cup style competition. He won the Oregon PGA Sr. Championships on two occasions, first in 2000 and again in 2002. Grove also has two Oregon PGA Sr. Masters Championships to his credit.
Grove was elected to the Board of Directors of the Oregon Chapter of the PGA of America in 1994 and has served as secretary, vice president and president during his stint with the organization. Grove was recognized as the Oregon PGA Professional of the Year in 2002 and earned the President's Award for outstanding service to the game of golf in 2006.
Grove resides in Portland with Leah, his wife of 38 years. The couple has two grown sons, Ron and Dayne.
