Larry Black
Associate Head Coach
Larry Black begins his sixth year as the Cavalier associate head coach. Bringing more than 30 years of coaching experience, Black's primary duties include recruiting, player development, scheduling and scouting. In addition to his coaching duties, Black also teaches several courses at Concordia, and supervises students in the Department of Education. A native of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Black received his bachelor's degree from Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon University), and his master's in education from Linfield College.
Joe Navarro
Assistant Coach
A former Cavalier player, Joe Navarro is in his fifth season as an assistant coach at Concordia. Joe was CU's starting point guard in the 1994-95 season and his 17 assists in one game set a Concordia single-game record. A 1995 graduate, Joe was a Cavalier assistant from 1998-2000, serving as the head junior varsity coach as well. He has also coached at North Marion High School and Warrenton High School. Joe returned to CU for the 2005-06 season from southern California, where he worked with Los Angeles Clippers shooting coach Neil O'Schlay, and conducted individual workouts for NBA players, including Brian Grant, Chris Wilcox, Jason Kapono and Chris Kaman.
Henry Barrera
Assistant Coach
Henry Barrera is in his first season with the Cavaliers. As a point guard, Barrera was a three-time All-American and NCCAA National Player of the Year while playing for Multnomah University. After graduating with a degree in education ministries, Barrera played one season of semi-pro basketball in Sweden. Since graduation, Barrera has coached Oregon prep basketball at Lincoln, Sheldon and Clackamas High Schools. Barrera now runs his own business, Speed 4 Sport, a training company for athletes in the region. He is currently working towards a master's degree at Concordia with an emphasis in education.
