Christopher Duenow is in his sixth campaign with the Navy and White as Head Coach of the Concordia University volleyball team.

Making the postseason in each of his first five seasons, Duenow’s teams have compiled a 77-60 (.578) overall record and a 51-21 (.677) run in the Cascade Collegiate Conference which includes a conference championship in 2002.

Last season, Duenow guided the Cavaliers to a fifth-place finish in the Cascade after compiling a 13-15 overall record while extending the team’s streak to nine straight seasons with a winning record in conference play after a 10-8 mark against CCC opponents.

In 2005, the Cavaliers finished 14-13 overall including 10-8 in the conference for fourth place. The year before, the Cavs finished fourth in the CCC with a 12-14 overall and a 12-6 conference slate.

In his first two seasons at the helm, Duenow marched the Cavaliers to the Pacific Northwest Region I Tournament, the fourth and fifth appearances in school history at the regional level.

In 2003, after finishing 14-15 overall, and third in the CCC with an impressive 12-6 conference record, the Cavaliers finished the season with a fifth-place showing at the NAIA Region I championships.

In his first season as head coach in 2002, the Cavaliers battled to their fourth straight conference crown and stormed to a 24-3 overall record. Concordia went undefeated in conference play (18-0) and extended their conference winning streak to 65 regular-season matches, a Cascade Collegiate Conference record. The team garnered a No.10 national ranking, and fell just one game shy of reaching the NAIA national tournament for the second time in three years.

Duenow, a Northwest native, arrived in Portland after spending the 2000 and 2001 seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia, a Division I institution located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Prior to his coaching stint in Virginia, Duenow was an assistant coach at Seattle University.

From 1992-1999, while living and teaching high school band in Silverdale, Washington, Duenow started and developed the Kitsap Juniors Volleyball Club. More recently, he was the program director and head coach of the Virginia Volleyball Academy during his time on staff at UVA. He is currently the technical director for the Nike Northwest Volleyball Club based in Gresham, Oregon. Duenow grew up in Cheney, Washington and graduated from the University of Washington in 1990 with a BA in Music Education. At the UW, Duenow was a four-year starter for the men’s club volleyball program, where he trained both as a middle hitter and a setter.
